From the St. Petersburg Times

“He understands the lawmaking process and how the layers of government work.  Harrison also is widely regarded for the respect he shows colleagues across the political spectrum.  His moderate agenda and style are well suited to the neighborhoods of Temple Terrace, Lutz and North Tampa.”

From the Tampa Tribune

“He understands local budgets, helped lower Tampa’s property tax rate and knows how frustrating Tallahassee mandates can be for local governments.  He vows to protect the elderly from budget cuts.”

Thank you for visiting and welcome to the Shawn Harrison campaign!

Florida and our Nation are at crossroads this November. Never before have the choices in an election been clearer. In Washington, we have record sustained unemployment, the loss of our AAA bond rating, and sky high deficits that our children and grandchildren will be paying the rest of their lives.

In Florida, however, we are moving in the right direction. Our budget is balanced. No deficit. Our unemployment numbers are dropping rapidly. We are increasing spending in education while fostering a competitive environment where public schools compete against charter schools, and it is working. Public employees now contribute a very small percentage of their salaries to fund their own pensions, and it’s helping save taxpayer dollars. We’re making common sense insurance reform and tort reform laws, helping to reduce those costs for all Floridians.

I am proud of my record of service, from Tampa Palms to the Tampa City Council to Tallahassee. The results are proven. Balanced budgets. Tax cuts. Private sector job creation. Protecting our first responders and their families. But while I’m proud of these things, I am prouder still of my record as a small business owner and job creator. My companies employ local residents and create millions of dollars in wages. Real world business experience is what we need in Tallahassee. And I have it.

I have lived in District 63 my entire adult life. From the protection of the traditional "rural" lifestyle in Lutz and respect for the established neighborhoods of Forest Hills and Old Carrollwood to the bustling growth challenges of New Tampa, I will continue to bring my experience and my passion to this office as we strengthen the unique areas of District 63.

This is no time to take our great State down the path of deficits and reckless spending like we have in Washington. District 63 needs a representative who has created and owned his own business, made his own payroll, and has the proven ability to work within government to create jobs. I have a record of proven results and will continue my focus on job creation, strengthening small business, putting people back to work, and growing our economy.

Thanks for visiting and there will be much more to follow as we press forward towards making District 63 even better than it already is.
