For eight years I had the incredible honor of representing the people of North Tampa on the Tampa City Council. I am now just as honored to ask for your support as I officially enter the race for the Florida House of Representatives, District 60.

I have watched the areas of Lutz, North Tampa, Temple Terrace and Thonotosassa grow over the past decade. While my service on the Tampa City Council was only in a portion of District 60, over that time I got to know the people and issues of all parts of our District. From the important river issues and quality of life of beautiful Temple Terrace to the protection of the traditional "rural" lifestyle in Lutz and Thonotosassa to the bustling growth challenges still faced in New Tampa, I have served as an elected official before and will bring my experience and my passion to this office as we protect and strengthen the unique areas of District 60.

We are not without our challenges at this particular time in the history of our great State. The current state of our economy calls for someone to represent District 60 who has created and owned his own business, made his own payroll, and has the proven ability to work within government to create jobs. I have done that. Our current representative Dr. Ed Homan has served us well for 8 years, and now it's time to focus on the new economic realities we face. I intend to encourage job creation by reducing taxes and fostering an environment where small business can thrive, putting people back to work and growing our economy. I did this for 8 years and can and will do it again.

Thanks for visiting and there will be much more to follow as we press forward towards making District 60 even better than it already is.
Shawn Harrison
