SHAWN HARRISON PLEDGES ACTION FOR EDUCATION, ELDERCARE,
& VETERANS AS HE LAUNCHES HIS CAMPAIGN FOR HD 63
Harrison files to take moderate House District back citing his record of Bipartisan accomplishment
Hillsborough County, FL - Shawn Harrison today filed the required paperwork to reclaim House District 63. Upon filing his paperwork, Shawn said,
"I believe the people of Northern Hillsborough County deserve a State Representative who shares their values and possesses a proven record of accomplishment. In my eight years on the Tampa City Council, we passed the first tax cut in 20 years, kick started roadway improvements currently underway or completed in New Tampa, including the Bridge over I-75, the widening of I-75, and the recent widening of Bruce B. Downs, and led the successful efforts to create the City's first ever faith based initiatives program to enable our compassionate community to serve their neighbors.
Of his previous service in the State House Shawn said, "In my two years in the State House, I reformed our state's Power of Attorney laws to protect our elderly, strengthened Florida's Arbitration Code to encourage out of court dispute resolution for non-lawyers, protected endangered and threatened species by allowing our State's zoos to lease public land, and most importantly, protected the widows and orphans of our first responders killed in the line of duty with the state-wide passage of Amendment 9 this November."
Shawn concluded by saying, "There will be plenty of time to debate the accomplishments of the current Representative in District 63. For now, however, I am happy to be back working on behalf of District 63 and look forward to the coming campaign."
